Holly & Evan's Winter Wedding in Sonora, CA

Holly and Evan's December wedding in Sonora, CA traded cold Gold Country air for a warm, festive room and a crowd that danced straight through the chill.

A December night up in Gold Country Sonora does something to a wedding. It's cold and clear outside, the foothills gone quiet for winter, and then you step into the room and it's all warmth and candle glow and people who are genuinely glad to be inside together. Holly and Evan picked the date on purpose, right in the thick of the holidays, and they let that season do half the decorating for them.

We kept the room warm in every sense, soft uplighting against the dark windows, the whole space feeling like the inside of a snow globe. Holly walked in to a string version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" that softened into "Can't Help Falling in Love," and Evan was already misty before she reached the front. That set the tone for a night that was unapologetically sentimental. Cocktail hour matched it, some Nat King Cole and a little Michael Bublé holiday while guests warmed up over spiked cider.

Then dinner ended and the mood flipped. The grand entrance came in hot with "Feliz Navidad" rolling straight into "September," and their first dance to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran glowed in the warm winter light. After the toasts we opened the floor with "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and this crowd came to move, December be damned.

We ran a country detour for Evan's side that got the boots going, swung back to a throwback block, and let the energy climb on its own. The peak was the whole room belting along to "Sweet Caroline," loud enough to rattle the windows, total strangers arm in arm by the end of it.

We brought it back down warm at the close, "Last Christmas" giving way to one last slow dance to send everyone out into the cold happy. A winter wedding that more than held its own. Holly and Evan, thank you for a cozy, full-hearted Sonora night.
