Samantha & Michael's Folsom Wedding

Samantha and Michael's Folsom-area reception glowed deep blue all night — draped ceilings, twinkle lights, a monogram on the wall, and a patterned gobo washing across the dance floor.

We lit this one in blue and never looked back. Samantha and Michael's reception was indoors — a hall with draped ceilings, crystal chandeliers, twinkle lights strung overhead and a polished tile-and-wood floor — and from the first uplight to the last song we kept the whole room bathed in a deep, romantic blue that made everything feel like evening even before it was. The ceremony was set right there in the same space, rows of silver chiavari chairs facing a draped backdrop, and Samantha came down the aisle to "Marry You" by Bruno Mars — upbeat, joyful, a clear sign of the party coming.

We kept the transitions tight so the room could turn over cleanly from vows to dinner to dancing without losing the mood. On the wall behind the head table we projected their monogram in soft light, and across the open floor we ran an ornate patterned gobo that swirled gold over the blue. Their first dance was the quiet centerpiece — "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, the two of them holding close in the middle of that big blue room while the projected pattern played across her gown.

Later a parent dance brought the same hush, an older gentleman and Samantha turning slow circles while the tables watched. Those are the moments we build the whole lighting plan around. Then, after toasts (Michael's best man earned a standing ovation), we opened it up to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and the Folsom crowd packed the floor instantly.

From there the blue room got loud. We ran a throwback block with "Crazy in Love," took a quick country detour, then surged into current hits for the younger crew. The peak was a full-floor "Sweet Caroline," everyone belting the "ba ba ba" while the gobo kept spinning underfoot. We closed on "Closing Time" and a sparkler send-off into the warm Folsom night.

Samantha and Michael, thank you for letting us paint your celebration one gorgeous color from start to finish.
